Thank you for visiting my website.
I am humbled and honored to share my art with you.
I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to meet and be mentored by African American artist, Miss Annie Lee. Miss Annie and I would share long conversations about art and expressing ourselves through art. I sat in her bedroom and watched as she worked on a line of dolls she was planning to release just prior to her passing. We always laughed about me saying I was old, she would quickly remind me she was older and "age ain't nothing but a number".
She told me "you are never to old to do what you love".
Painting and traveling have always been my grounding passions. Since I was a child, drawing was my way to release my emotions. To satisfy my other passion, travelling, I joined in the US Air Force and had the opportunity to travel the world. I retired from the Air Force in 1993 and for the next 20 years I worked with youth and adults in my community. I had many different jobs, social worker, mental health program manager and domestic violence facilitator. I founded a non-profit to provide mental health services to underserved communities of color. I relocated to Las Vegas in 2013 with the plans to retire. That was the year I got serious about my art, with loving encouragement from Miss Annie.
I enjoy recycling canvases and different materials to create unique one of a kind paintings.
I have over 30 paintings in private collections throughout the United States and Europe. I have been commissioned to paint numerous pieces for private collections.
My first public exhibition was in May 2019.
I was honored to be interviewed by SankofaStudios.com.
Annie Lee, Artist
March 3, 1935 - November 24, 2014
An American artist known for her depiction of African American everyday life. Her work is characterized by images without facial features. She used body language to show emotion and expression in her work.
I was so blessed to have been able to spend true quality time with such a beautiful person. She always made you feel like she had known you forever. Miss Annie passed on my birthday in 2014
This little man is a survivor. He lost his Mother to lupus, only a few days after his birth, and he was a fighter being born premature. He is now a VERY active 4 year old. He was the first to receive 50% of art sale proceeds.
